App Up blocks the effects of histamine at H1 receptor sites; has atropine-like antiserotonin, antipruritic, sedative, and appetite-stimulating effects.

App Up is used for relief of symptoms associated with perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis; vasomotor rhinitis; allergic conjunctivitis, mild, uncomplicated urticaria and angioedema; amelioration of allergic reaction to blood or plasma; dermatographism; adjunctive therapy in anaphylactic reactions. Treatment of cold urticaria. Unlabeled use: Treatment of vascular cluster headaches.

To determine the correct dosage and course of App Up, always consult your doctor and strictly follow the prescription and instructions you are provided. Adults For initial therapy, 4 mg 3 times a day PO; For maintenance therapy, 4-20 mg/day in three divided doses PO; do not exceed 0.5 mg/kg/day. Pediatric patients: 0.25 mg/kg/day PO or 8 mg/m2 Pediatric patients 2-6 years old: 2 mg PO 2 times a day or 3 times a day; do not exceed 12 mg/day. Geriatric patients: More likely to cause dizziness, sedation, syncope, toxic confusional states and hypotension in elderly patients; use with caution.

If you have been told by your physician that you have history or background hypersensitivity to Cyproheptadine, better not to take App Up in order to prevent some allergic reactions or worst illness. Contraindicated with allergy to any antihistamines, third trimester of pregnancy, newborns, and premature infants. Use cautiously with narrow–angle glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer, symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy, asthmatic attack, bladder neck obstruction, pyloroduodenal obstruction, lactation.

It is important for patients who are taking App Up to be aware on what are necessary precautions to take while under this medication. It is important that patient should stop taking alcoholic beverages it may reduce the effectiveness of the App Up. Avoid excess dosage. Take App Up with food if GI upset occurs. Report difficulty breathing, hallucinations, loss of coordination, unusual bleeding or bruising, visual disturbances, irregular heartbeat.

Side effects are: drowsiness, sedation, dizziness, disturbed coordination, fatigue, confusion, restlessness, excitation, nervousness, tremor, headache, blurred vision, diplopia, vertigo, tinnitus, hypotension, palpitation, bradycardia, tachycardia, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, weight gain, increase appetite, urinary frequency, urinary retention, decrease libido, impotence, chest tightness, wheezing, nasal stuffiness, dry nose, sore throat, excessive sweating, chills, rash and anaphylactic shock.

App Up is to be stored in a room temperature away from light.
