Bicatero is an antiandrogen drug which is mainly used in treating prostatic cancer. It can also be used in treatment of hirsutism, or excessive hairiness.

Bicatero is a pure anti-androgen medication and it binds to androgen receptor, this preventing its activation and the upregulation of androgen responsive genes by the androgenic hormones. It also accelerates degradation of androgen receptor. Because of this, Bicatero is used in adjunct with other luteinizing hormones in treatment of prostatic cancer.

Bicatero will most likely be prescribed in a combination with another hormonal medication used for the treatment of prostatic cancer. You need to follow your doctor's instructions to the T when it comes to using both these medications. Do not increase or decrease your dosages of either of the medication.

Bicatero is usually taken once a day and it is best if you take it at the same time every day. You can take it with or without food. Do not discontinue Bicatero suddenly as this may exacerbate your condition. You will most likely need to come in for regular tests.

In most cases, the prescribed dosage will be one 50 mg tablet of Bicatero once daily. If you believe an overdose on Bicatero has taken place, seek emergency medical help. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. If the next dose is close, take only that one and skip the missed one.

Bicatero can cause some damage to the liver. Your doctor will check your liver function regularly if you are taking Bicatero. Do not stop using Bicatero suddenly. The active ingredient in Bicatero, bicalutamide may pass into body fluids. Patients and caregivers should wear gloves if handling any bodily fluids of patients using Bicatero. Pregnant women should never come in contact with Bicatero or bodily fluids of patients taking the drug.

Less serious Bicatero side effects may include dizziness, headache, weight changes, changes to sex drive, upset stomach, diarrhea, constipation, increased nighttime urination, back pain, joint pain, weakness, breast pain and swelling, hot flashes, sore throat, runny nose, other cold symptoms.

More serious Bicatero side effects that need to be reported at once include: blood in urine, pain in upper stomach, dark urine, clay colored stools, jaundice, pale skin, easy bleeding and/or bruising, fever, chills, shortness of breath, swelling, rapid weight gain, chest pain, troubles breathing.

Prostatic cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in men. Together with some other hormone medications, Bicatero is often used to treat prostatic cancer as it can slow down the growth and help control the condition. Bicatero is sometimes combined with castration, mostly in very severe cases.

Bicatero should not be used if you are allergic to bicalutamide. Bicatero should never be taken by a child or pregnant woman.

You should take Bicatero as long as the doctor tells you to. Do not stop using it suddenly as this may cause your cancer to grow more rapidly.
