Nexpro provides 24-hour relief of heartburn symptoms due to acid reflux disease and heals acid reflux erosions.

Nexpro comes as tablets. Your physician will decide the correct dosage for you. Adults treating reflux esophagitis are sometimes told by their physician to take 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. An additional 4 weeks treatment is recommended for patients in whom oesophagitis has not healed or who have persistent symptoms. Long-term management of patients with healed oesophagitis to prevent relapse may sometimes require 20 mg once daily.

The symptomatic treatment of GORD may sometimes require a dosage of 20 mg once daily (in patients without esophagitis). If symptoms have not been controlled after 4 weeks, the patient should be further investigated. Once symptoms have resolved, subsequent symptom control can be achieved using on-demand dosing as directed. Other conditions may require a different dosage regimen.

Consult your physician as soon as possible if you notice any of the following when taking Nexpro: persistent diarrhea, severe stomach cramps or abdominal pain, bloody stools, muscle spasms, seizures, precautions.

In the presence of any alarm symptoms and when gastric ulcer is suspected or present, malignancy should be excluded, as treatment may alleviate symptoms and delay diagnosis. Patients on long-term treatment should be kept under regular surveillance.

Patients on on-demand treatment should contact their doctor if their symptoms change in character. When prescribing Nexpro for on-demand therapy, the implications for interactions with other pharmaceuticals should be considered.

When prescribing Nexpro for H. pylori eradication, possible drug interactions for all components in the triple therapy, particularly clarithromycin, should be considered.

Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take Nexpro.
